Picture Books

Picture Books are my favorite to read.  What I didn't know that I learned today was that all picture books have 32 pages in them.   Some of my favorite ones when I was little was the Clifford the Big Red Dog books.  We read these often at school and  I remember coming home and reading them to my mom.  Another book that I was introduced to was The Hallo-Weiner.  I remember in Elementary School that around Halloween we would read it.  Picture Books I still enjoy reading today.  When we watched the video of the lady reading to the student it referred to everything she was doing wrong.  I can remember in school the teacher always told us about the author then about the verso page.  My teachers always took the cover off the book too.  When they were reading the story they always had it to where we could always see the pictures.  Whereas the teacher in the video put the book down several times and it was taking her a long time to read the book.

  1. I have to say. It is crazy to me how far education has come.I think it is so good how education is now geared toward enjoyment in learning. In my experience there was no such thing as book walks or an exciting prologue to a coming read aloud in the dark ages when I attended what was then referred to as Grammar school.LOL The one thing I can say about my schooling though was that I did have a firm foundation in reading and spelling. More and more these days technology has caused a dumbing down of our children. Unfortunately most teens today spell in text. It is one of my goals when I begin teaching to enforce and reenforce spelling correctly because I know it is a scary prospect at times but these kids truly are our future

  2. I could not believe that she was readingto her class like that. I have never seen any teacher readto her class like she did.Children want to see the pictures before the story and to methat isbetter because they will want to listen to the storyto see what will happen at the end.

  3. well I actually would have thought there was nothing wrong with the video until this semester where I have learned so mush about teaching and interacting with the students. Thank God for great teacher who know how and care about making a difference..and instilling that onto us!
